Kodak‘s Shirley Cards are what was used to set the standard for skin-tones in photography. And the story behind them is great! I was talking to a friend of mine on the phone and he brought up the Shirley Cards and their use.

You mean there are reasons other than the fact that it’s pretty much totally contrived silliness burdened by contestants who really end up no where doing nothing as models?
“America’s Next Top Model” is back for cycle 22 (8 p.m. Wednesday). And really, no one cares.
A while ago, there was a funny list of why you shouldn’t date a photographer. This time I’d like to focus on the positives, because, and please excuse my lack of modesty, we photographers are awesome people.
We are artistic creatures, yet unlike artists from other fields, we have to constantly think about how we are going to put food on the table in the future, so that makes us very aware of the world we live in and how to adapt to it.

There are often times some really fun moments on a set! At least on mine. Not that shooting gorgeous women, and beautiful cars isn’t a fun time all by itself, but some moments that just make you break out in laughter.
