A couple years ago I got the opportunity to shoot at an amazing steel mill location in Henderson, Nevada, thanks to Alix Lovell and her fiancé who had the great hookup! Nya (MsSDeity) was one of the models I invited to shoot with me that day and she did NOT disappoint.

She’d brought this purple lingerie outfit from a popular lingerie retailer, and it really worked and popped for this shoot.

This was a multi-light setup for these shots. I was using three lights. I had my 72″ Octa you often hear me talk about or see in my shots and you can see in the video. That was the main light which provided great soft light.

I had it placed more in front of the subject which gave it a bit more of a flat look but worked for this location. I then, placed two strobes with CTO gels on them with the bell in the background to act as kicker lights.

I placed the backlights about ten to fifteen feet away from the subjects and in retrospect I think if I did it again, I would have had the lights closer just to eliminate that line from the lights on the floor. Yeah, you probably didn’t even notice it until I said something.

Regardless, we came away with some great images and miss Nya looked amazing. I am so thankful for everyone involved. There will be more shoot notes from the other models who were there to shoot that day.

Nya is also one of the models invited to join us at my upcoming Boudoir Photography Business Mastermind workshop in Costa Rica February 2025. We are keeping the number of photographers limited to only fifteen (15) to keep things manageable.

Below is the gear I used for this shoot. Please ignore the brands as this is not an endorsement of one brand over another and none of the listing is pertinent to getting the results you’d want to get one a similar shoot.

THE GEAR

72″ JTL Octabox
3 Strobes With CTO Gels
3 Light Stands With Boom

This video isn’t really a tutorial but more of just a video I was testing and playing around with, but you can see the lighting set up and how different the set looked vs. what the camera was capturing and how it looks currently.
