KEF MURO Review

I don’t know about you; but when I’m shooting I love to have music playing. For me it tends to set a mood and keeps the energy up depending on what it is that we’re shooting.

In studio this tends to be really easy. You just play some MP3’s through your computer’s speakers. On location; this may become a bit challenging. So what do I do?

I pull out my KEF MURO bluetooth speaker and crank it up. The sound quality is absolutely spectacular to say the least. That is because unlike most other bluetooth speakers, the KEF MURO is made out of metal so there is no distortion to the sound at high volume.

When I took it out of the box, it had the weight of a quality-built speaker, and its smooth aluminum shell was cool to the touch. When paired with my smartphone, I discovered it had the sound of a quality-built speaker, too. KEF’s been designing innovative high-performance speakers since 1961, and this is a worthy addition to their line. The sound was spacious and warm, yet richly detailed.

Of course I had to really put it through it’s paces with some classic Miami bass tracks as well as the bass kicking ‘Going Back to Cali‘ by LL Cool J and ‘When Will I See You Smile Again‘ by Bell Biv Devoe.

Still not convinced and wanting to see the recovery time on speakers I had to run some house, deep house, and of course techno music through the speaker. To my delight it continued to perform like larger speakers are expected to.

You’re not going to be shattering any windows with one of these units but there will be substantial and deep sound coming through it. I’ve put the tech specs and features below.
