Covid-19 Could Help Your Boudoir Photography Business!
While I’m not downplaying the danger of the Covid-19 virus; any of us who aren’t on the front lines fighting against this pandemic situation have a very unique opportunity which doesn’t come around very often.
The unique opportunity we’ve been given is the opportunity to position ourselves for success. It’s the time when little is happening and people are becoming desperate for things to do. But now is also the time when most everyone is online.
This is the time when we can be marketing the hell out of our businesses and getting in front of a host of new potential clients.
It’s easy to say that no one is currently booking; but that isn’t entirely true. That’s right. There are plenty of people out there who are currently booking for when the country opens back up and we’re all able to get back to work.
Who are these mystery people? They’re my clients. They’re clients who have substantial funds and aren’t decimated by this situation. They are the perfect clients. They have money and they’re on lock down.
Now having said that I need to make this extremely clear. I am not advocating for or suggesting that any of us should be out shooting while there is a shelter in place mandate in place. That would be selfish; irresponsible and stupid.
But now is the time to be getting out there and marketing your asses off. Now is the time to attract the attention of those clients.
Some of the biggest and most well known companies have been started at times like these. The recessions and the great depression gave us some of the juggernaut companies we know today.
Companies like GE, GM, Disney, Hyatt, Microsoft, EA, Google to name a few.
The economic crash of 2008 brought us companies like Venmo, Groupon, Uber; and several others we don’t know how we existed without.
So why can’t you be one of those companies? It’s just a matter of getting your ducks in a row as they say. Now is the time to hone your skills as a photographer. To develop processes and systems that allow you to maximize each client experience.
If you’re not offering print products to your clients; now is the time to start researching labs and vendors who can provide you the print product you need.
It’s also a great time to figure out your pricing and to raise your pricing to suit the new clientele you’re seeking.
I hope that these give you quite a few good ideas moving forward.
